Captured Wild
This is apparently a common bird but i hardly see it. Every Sunday this female Koel and her mate come to my garden to eat the snails. I always go after them with my camera but i can never get a good shot. Last Sunday i caught her just outside the bay window. She was being bothered by a crow who appeared to be wooing her.
Another frequent visitor to our household. This rat snake comes for our toads. The toads are the size of my feet (size11) and are quite docile creatures. This 8 foot snake came by and caught one of them. My mother feeling sorry for the toad let the dog loose which chased the snake away. Amazingly the toad survived after being...in that position.

St Josephs
St Josephs. Its such a nice school. The old buildings, the nice big gardens and the trees. Its quite a little paradise. Its hard to believe people actually schooled here. I've been used to going to a school that looks like a hospital where grass has been removed to be replaced by concrete.
This school is so different to us.

Grease Pole
A traditional part of the Sinhalese and Tamil New year is the Grease Pole. The Pole is actually a coconut tree around 25-30 feet high. The whole pole is greased from top to bottom with a flag that sits happily on the top like a star on a Christmas tree. The game is for a team of 2 people to climb up that pole with no equipment on and grab that flag. They are allowed to wipe the grease with their hands. The normal strategy is for one person to do the wiping while the team mate supports him from under. Its quite a long game and its took about 4 hours to finish this one.
BloodShed
In medieval times, while the men, husbands, sons, fathers go out to war. The people of Home would look to the sky for a sign or even hope.
